Knitting my ornaments

Most knitters are famous for casting on their new love before all other projects are finished.  I am no exception.  Recently I purchased two Christmas ornament patterns from The Loopy Ewe.  They are by Kalamazoo Knits, and use up bits of left-over sock yarn.  What’s not to love, already, eh?  The first pattern, Deck the Balls is for self-striping sock yarn, and has patterns to cover several sizes of glass ornaments.

The second pattern, Deck the Balls with Lace is for large ornaments, and either solid or semi-solid sock yarns.  I found the large ornaments (and smaller) at Hobby Lobby yesterday.  Best part?  Ornaments are 50% off now.  Yippee – a $2 investment.   So, without further ado, I give you my first FO: This is knit with some left-over Opal from one of my first socks.  I could probably knit 3 or 4 of these large ornaments with this remnant.  Here’s another look, for scale:I think this ornament, with another one to be knit, will be my offering at a gift exchange.  After all, there are all these left-over sock yarns calling to me:
