Friday Funnies

Did your family have any silly sayings that became part of its verbal “shorthand”?  I’m reminded of my brother when he was about 4.  Tim was all about cowboys.  He dearly loved everything cowboy, and everything Texas.  We had our first TV, and he thrived on the Westerns.  Tim told everyone, with great seriousness, “When I grow up I’m going to own a moneky ranch in Texas”.

We finally figured out he had heard Dad talk about a “monkey wrench”.

Minky says “So when do we get to the funny part?”

Tying that little ball of helium to my daughter’s two-year-old wrist in the grocery store, she manages to work it free in the parking lot, lets it escape, looks up in dismay as it goes, and wails, “Da sky ate da balloon!”
